When it comes to marketing your brand, video content is king. YouTube is the second-largest search engine in the world, with over five billion videos watched every single day, learning how to get sponsorships has never been more important.

Five billion videos watched means five billion opportunities to impress with your brand.

If you’re not already creating video content for your brand, now is the time to start. And if you are creating video content, but not optimizing your YouTube channel for brand sponsorships, you could be missing out on a huge opportunity in a search engine world.

If you’re looking to land brand sponsorships, it’s important to set up your channel and content correctly. In this blog post, we will outline 5 steps that will help you optimize your YouTube channel for sponsorships!

Step #1- Consistent Content

The best thing you can do for your channel’s growth and acquiring sponsors is to be consistently consistent. This means choosing a clear niche, value, and audience target for your channel. Then posting often within those choices.

Doing this will help your subscribers understand what value / entertainment you bring. Similarly brands will want to focus on YouTubers with a clear vision and purpose with their content. If your channel is clear, the willingness of a ‘on-target’ sponsor increases exponentially.

Step #2 – Find The Spot

Something that all sponsors will ask is: “where will the ad be placed”?. To address this, leave natural gaps in your content in the 1st minute, the 40-60% mark, and at the very end.

Then when chatting with sponsors, give them a visual of what that spot looks like by cutting 30-seconds out (with Clideo: click here). Showing sponsors the “where” makes their decision making and ability to back you easier!

Step #3 – Short and Sweet

The duration of your content matters. Sponsors want to know they are getting the bang for their buck. To make that understanding easy for them, aim to make your content 10 minutes or less.

This will ensure that you have ample time to detail concepts, show visuals, and add humor and creativity along the way. It also ensures that the sponsor gets 5-10% of air-time – 🙂

Step #4 – Audience Chat

Every sponsor will look for “engagement” on your channel. What does that mean? It means they will evaluate every way a person interacts with your channel: subscriptions, likes, clicks, comments, etc.

Nothing speaks louder than comments. Why? Because they require the most work out of the audience. When comments are abundant, the sponsor knows that people care about the videos (regardless of opinion).

To strengthen comment flow: 1) encourage audience to comment below on a topic 2) like comments that you receive 3) answer comments directly 4) answer comments with another question – to extend that traffic / activity in the comments section

Step #5 – Affiliate Focused

The dream scenario for a sponsor: they get a top 1% channel and do it on solely an “affiliate basis”. But why would a creator ever do this? One word: unlimited. With affiliate links, you have uncapped potential with how much you can make with a sponsorship – no limits, baby!

I know, I know – what if the campaign does nothing and I make no money? To address this, be sincere about the brands you work with. If the products / value truly align with who you are and what your content is, your audience will give it a shot (especially if it is a great offer).

To do that, focus on securing: 20%+ off for your audience (normally it’s 10% off), and a 40% (you) / 60% (them) split of revenue.

Why would the brand do this? Because there’s no risk to them, they win. And you win, for the long-term. 40% revenues, 20%+ off for your customer, and for the lifetime of the campaign. Yes, it can all be yours – in great reason.
